The work

What a SIP trunk actually changes.

Everything your team touches stays the same: the handsets, the extensions, the menus. What changes is what sits behind them, and what you pay for it each month.

01

Virtual lines over your broadband

A SIP trunk replaces the copper lines behind your phone system with channels carried over your internet connection. IP2Speech reports savings of up to 40% against traditional telephone lines.

Channels, not physical lines Concurrent call capacity Keep your dial plan No line rental
02

Keep the PBX you own

If you have already invested in an on-premise phone system that works, there is no reason to replace it. We connect the trunk to your existing PBX and leave your handsets and habits alone.

On-premise PBX support SBC and firewall setup Codec and QoS tuning Existing handsets kept
03

Numbers and porting

Your existing numbers move across, and new local or toll-free numbers can be added in minutes rather than weeks. Porting is scheduled so the cutover happens outside your busy hours.

Number porting Local and toll-free DIDs Caller ID control Directory listing consistency
04

Resilience and scale

Channels scale up for a busy season and back down afterwards, and failover routing sends calls to mobiles or an alternate number if a connection drops, by rules you set in advance.

How we set it up

The saving is real. The setup decides the quality.

SIP is cheaper than copper, and badly provisioned SIP is worse than the lines you left. The difference is capacity planning, QoS and failover, which are decisions made at design stage.

01 / capacity

Channels, not headcount

You need one channel per simultaneous call, not one per employee. Sizing from your real concurrent call peaks is usually where the saving comes from, and channels can move up or down later.

02 / quality

QoS before go-live

Codecs, prioritisation and firewall or SBC configuration are set up and tested alongside your existing lines. If your connection is not up to it, we say so before you sign.

03 / failover

Decided before you need it

If a connection drops, calls route to mobiles, another site or an alternative number by rules you set. Nobody should be writing a failover plan during an outage.

What we will not do

We will tell you when hosted PBX is the better answer.

Trunks make sense when your phone system works and the line cost is the problem. If the PBX itself is ageing, or your team needs mobile apps, presence and video, a hosted system is the better investment - we sell both, so the recommendation is not a sales decision.

Process

Review, design, port, support.

The trunk is configured and tested alongside your existing lines, so the port happens once calls are proven working.

STEP 01

Review lines and bill

What you pay per line today, how many concurrent calls you actually make, and what your PBX supports. Most reviews find capacity nobody uses.

STEP 02

Design the trunk

Channel count, number inventory, caller ID rules, failover behaviour and the firewall or SBC configuration, agreed before anything changes.

STEP 03

Configure and port

Trunk connected and tested alongside your existing lines, then numbers ported with the cutover scheduled outside business hours.

STEP 04

Monitor and support

Call quality monitored, channels adjusted as your volume changes, and one local number to call when something needs attention.

“Andy and his team are phenomenal! Responsive, professional, proficient. Cannot recommend them enough.”

Alongside your trunks

What else the same team can run.

Trunks are usually the first thing we fix, not the last. The same team runs hosted phone systems, websites, hosting and marketing, and Client Connect Suite ties calls to customer records - one number to call for all of it.

It is a virtual phone line. Instead of physical copper lines running into your building, call channels are carried over your broadband connection to your existing phone system. Your extensions, menus and handsets stay as they are; only the lines behind them change. IP2Speech reports savings of up to 40% against traditional lines.

One channel per simultaneous call, not per employee. A ten-person office rarely has ten calls at once, so the review looks at your actual concurrent call peaks rather than headcount, and channels can be adjusted later as volumes change.

Not if the connection is provisioned properly. Quality problems come from congested internet, no QoS and mis-set codecs, all of which are configuration decisions we make at design stage. Where the connection is not up to it, we will tell you before you sign rather than after.

Yes. Numbers port across and the cutover is scheduled outside your busy hours. Keeping the number matters for more than convenience: it is on your vans, your listings and your directory entries, and changing it quietly damages local search visibility.

Failover rules decide what happens: calls route to mobiles, another site or an alternative number, so the phone still gets answered. That is agreed at design stage rather than discovered during an outage.

Trunks if your PBX works and you mainly want to cut line costs. Hosted PBX if the system itself is ageing, or your team needs mobile apps, presence and video without maintaining hardware. We sell both under IP2Speech and will say which fits after looking at your bill.
